Best Manufacturing Practices

Identifies and validates best practices, and encourages industry, government, and academia to share the information. Funded by the Office of Naval Research, but the information covers all services. Includes many online reports, including the "classic" Best Practices: How to Avoid Surprises in the World's Most Complicated Technical Process (NAVSO P-6071), 1986.

Biodynamics Data Bank

A national repository of biodynamics test data, including data from 7,000 acceleration impact tests, info on test facilities, programs, and subjects. Biomedical Research Database (DoD "BRD")

This database has been developed from biomedical research, testing or training programs being federally funded in FY1998 and beyond.* It covers research, testing and training on: infectious diseases, biological hazards, toxicology, medical chemical defense, medical biological defense, clinical medicine, clinical surgery, physical protection, training, graduate medical education and instruction. *It is supposed to be updated annually at the beginning of the fiscal year, so it is usually one or two years behind the current year. CAGE Codes are five position codes that identify companies doing, or wishing to do, business with the Federal Government. They can be searched on BINCS (Business Identification Number Cross-reference System).

Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology Abstracts

Chemical Kinetics (NIST) databases

This NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology) program offers reliable data on gas-phase reactions. Its data has been instrumental in modeling and predicting important scientific systems such as combustion chemistry, atmospheric changes related to ozone depletion and warming, plasmas, and free-radical chemistry.

Chemical Properties Handbook

Accurate information on how chemicals behave at different temperatures and under different conditions. This reference "can save hours of searching for the right source or performing complicated calculations."

Librarians access (only) via STN - $$ Contains information on research papers presented at scientific conferences around the world. Covers a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines - from life sciences to physical sciences to engineering. This source is not marked "Key" as conferences are cited in other major databases.

Corrosion Abstracts

Provides the world's most complete source of bibliographic information in the area of corrosion science and engineering. Includes general corrosion, testing, corrosion characteristics, preventive measures, materials construction and performance. (part of Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)
