Librarians access (only) via STN - $$ This is a major structure and factual database, and contains the organic substance records from the critically reviewed and evaluated documents from the Beilstein Handbook of Organic Chemistry as well as data from many leading journals back to 1779.

Best Manufacturing Practices
Identifies and validates best practices, and encourages industry, government, and academia to share the information. Funded by the Office of Naval Research, but the information covers all services. Includes many online reports, including the "classic" Best Practices: How to Avoid Surprises in the World's Most Complicated Technical Process (NAVSO P-6071), 1986.

Cambridge Scientific Abstracts
The library subscribes to several CSA databases that provide access to major areas of research, including aerospace and materials science. Most are detailed elsewhere on this page. The most important are: Aerospace & High Technology Database; Ceramic Abstracts / World Ceramics Abstracts; Engineered Materials Abstracts; and METADEX (Metals Abstracts).

CBRNIAC - Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Defense IAC
This Information Analysis Center acquires, analyzes, and disseminates CBD information. This includes chemical and physical properties of CBD materials, chemical identification, decontamination, homeland security, environmental effects, medical effects and treatment, toxicology, warning and identification, nuclear, biological and chemical survivability, etc. Access to CBRNIAC database information is available through Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC), Total Electronic Migration System (TEMS).

Center for Contemporary Conflict
Conducts research on current and emerging security issues and conveys its findings to U.S. and Allied policy-makers and military forces. Launched by the Naval Postgraduate School's Department of National Security Affairs. Includes information and papers on homeland defense, terrorism and counter-terrorism, regional instability, strategic nuclear policy, and Weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology) provides these databases for chemists, physicists, and materials scientists to identify compounds or look for insights into material structures. Includes the NIST Crystal Database with well-characterized crystalline compounds, and over 200,000 inorganic and organic compounds.

Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology Abstracts
Provides comprehensive information on chemical engineering, chemical processes and reaction engineering. Accessible via AFRL Librarian.

Chemical Kinetics (NIST) databases
This NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology) program offers reliable data on gas-phase reactions. Its data has been instrumental in modeling and predicting important scientific systems such as combustion chemistry, atmospheric changes related to ozone depletion and warming, plasmas, and free-radical chemistry.

Chemical Properties Handbook
Accurate information on how chemicals behave at different temperatures and under different conditions. This reference "can save hours of searching for the right source or performing complicated calculations."

Provides access to structure and files used for the identification of chemical substances cited in National Library of Medicine databases. Provides structure searching and some direct links to chemical information. Contains over 367,000 chemical records, of which 142,000 include chemical structures, and is searchable by Name, Synonym, CAS Registry Number, Molecular Formula, Classification Code, Locator Code, and Structure. Compendex (Engineering Index)
THE most comprehensive engineering resource. Covers aerospace engineering; electronics and communications engineering; engineering management; mechanical engineering; nuclear technology; computers and data processing; and applied physics.

Composites Industry Abstracts
Focuses on polymers and ceramics reinforced with fibers, honeycombs, whiskers and laminates. Strong yet lightweight, these materials are used for a variety of applications, from automotive body panels to sporting goods. A subset of Engineered Materials Abstracts.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Online
Sponsored by several companies, this resource includes a collection of annotated web links to CFD information; a guide to CFD literature with book reviews, etc.

Conference Papers Index (CONFSCI)
