DACS is a DoD Information Analysis Center and serves as the DoD Software Information Clearinghouse. It is an authoritative source for state-of-the-art software information. Its focus is software technology and software engineering, and it offers information and assistance with Data Mining, High Performance Computing, Knowledge Management, Object-Oriented technology, Rapid Prototyping, Risk Management, and Software Reliability.

$$ Provides access to information from more than 23 million patent documents, giving details of over 11 million inventions. Accessible via AFRL Librarian.

Descriptive Summaries
Provides technical and management data describing ongoing DoD research and technology efforts. It includes summary descriptions, and detailed funding information. It is based on "RDT&E Budget Item Justifications" and can be searched by Program Element (PE). Also See Research Summaries.

Dialog Databases
$$ Dialog has several excellent databases covering: Aerospace Industry News; Biotechnology; Chemistry; Cited Authors; Company Information; Dissertations; Engineering & Electronics, Energy & Environment, Federal Research; Human Factors & Medical; Materials Science; Patents; Physics & Mathematics; and Standards & Specs. Two of the key databases (Compendex and Inspec) are searchable (prepaid) via Engineering Village 2. Our librarians can also search many other Dialog databases. Accessible via AFRL Librarian.

Dissertation Abstracts
$$ The definitive guide to American dissertations. Also includes selected Masters theses and British dissertations. Note - Few universities loan dissertations, so we must normally purchase them. Please only request those definitely needed for your research. Accessible via AFRL Librarian.

Encyclopedia of Chemical Physics and Physical Chemistry
THE "most comprehensive reference on chemical physics and physical chemistry ever published." Knovel's interactive version defines the scope of each sub-discipline, and indicates where to go for a more complete and detailed explanation. Includes the full-text of all three volumes (over 3,000 pages).

Encyclopedia of Materials Characterization
