Electronic Books (E-Books)

We provide desktop access to hundreds of electronic books of interest to our AFRL Wright Site Library customers. NOTE that many online tools are purchased by and set up for AFRL customers only. Other registered customers may use these in the library. Most are set up for IP recognition. Some require a password. Access is limited to titles for which we have a licensing agreement. Note that vendors often have links to other materials than those to which we subscribe. For restrictions on use see our Usage Guidelines. AIAA Papers
1988+. To search only papers use the "AIAA Paper Number" search boxes. Ignore the LOGIN boxes. The online system may let you see the first page for pre-1988 papers. We own 1963-2000 on microfiche. Registered customers can make copies from microfiche for free. For AFRL Only.

Britannica Online
Encyclopædia Britannica Online includes the complete encyclopedia, as well as Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, an Internet Guide (300,000 Web sites rated and reviewed), World Atlas browse, Timeline Browse and more. You can also browse it like a paper set from A to Z. For all AF Bases.

DTIC
Full-text coverage = 1998+ and many older reports. Besides thousands of technical reports, DTIC provides access to many full-text books. These include Air Force Institute of Technology theses; conferences like the International Workshop on Laser Physics and EUROMECH Fluid Mechanics Conference; and guides like the Preliminary Material Properties Handbook, Acquisition Guide for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals, and Aircraft Materials Fire Test Handbook.

IEEE & IEE Conferences
1988+. We have thousands of papers from IEEE and IEE conferences covering Antennas and Propagation, Radar, Nanostructures and Quantum Dots, Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS Proceedings) and Advances in Sensors. The online versions are most easily located by entering a few key words in the "Title Contains" drop down box in our E-Journal Portal. Full-text access is for For AFRL Only.

A great tool for Chemists & Engineers! We subscribe to over 700 reference books in this interactive database so you can have up-to-date, comprehensive information. Users can search text and interactive data, including equations, tables and graphs. Some of the best known titles are the Encyclopedia of Chemical Physics and Physical Chemistry; International Critical Tables of Numerical Data, Physics, Chemistry and Technology; Chemical Properties Handbook; Perry's Chemical Engineer's Handbook, and Lange's Handbook of Chemistry. National Academy Press
Offers 2,500 of its books on the Web. One can search the full text of online books (or purchase paper copies). Click "Read it Online Free." Some titles are Review of the Future of the U.S. Aerospace Infrastructure and Aerospace Engineering; Review and Evaluation of the Air Force Hypersonic Technology Program; From Certainty to Uncertainty: The Story of Science and Ideas in the Twentieth Century; Innovation and Transfer of U.S. Air Force Manufacturing Technology; and Aging Avionics in Military Aircraft.

netLibrary
The Air Force Library System provides over 9,000 electronic books of interest to all Air Force employees and families. *For a password to use at home AFRL, ASC and NHRC customers should call 255-5511 x4238. Other Wright-Patt customers should contact the Base Library at 257-4815. For all AF Bases.

Peterson's USAF Education Resource Center
brings you online educational books like: Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), Dantes Subject Standardized Tests, Military Flight Aptitude Tests, Officer Candidate Tests, and the GED and CLEP Success series. You can read the online books here, but if you want to take the online tests contact the Base Library at 74815. For all AF Bases.
