Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS)
Contains data in support of human health risk assessment. It is compiled by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and contains over 500 chemical records. IRIS data, focuses on hazard identification and dose-response assessment, and includes key data on EPA carcinogen classifications, unit risks, slope factors, oral reference doses, and inhalation reference concentrations. Fact sheet ALSO SEE Risk Assessment

JANNAF
- (Joint Army-Navy-NASA-Air Force) Some JANNAF Interagency Propulsion Committee reports are available from DTIC. Our library and Reports Vault owns some reports, and many are available from DTIC. *IACs are DoD sponsored but charge for some services. Over 5,100 public domain technical papers presented at Joint Army-Navy-NASA-Air Force conferences since 1974. These public papers cover combustion science, propulsion system safety and hazards, environmental protection, toxicology, materials technology, nondestructive evaluation, and energetic materials research. (Note: Requires registering and PDFs cost $24.00 each.) Also see Chemical Propulsion Information Agency (CPIA), and TEMS. To have our library order these please contact us

Joint Spectrum Center Document Library
JSC handles DoD issues relating to spectrum planning, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)/ vulnerability (EMV) and electromagnetic environmental effects (E3). Radio frequency (RF) spectrum is used in nearly every modern piece of military equipment.

Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS)
A good list of safety sheets.

MEDLINE (Online version of Index Medicus)
THE medical resource produced by the National Library of Medicine. It's exhaustive database of over 12 million medical citations covers medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the pre-clinical sciences. (A required "Animal Protocol" research file.) Check with the Library for passwords to the $$ version. Also see PubMed (Free).

National Electrical Safety Code Handbook
A "master reference," this Knovel interactive book for all electrical professionals involved with transmission, distribution, fiber optic systems, etc. It provides a rule-by-rule overview of the entire code, offering clarification, analysis, and numerous examples, and includes over 400 drawings and photographs.

National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) databases
Provides access to over 80 NIST scientific and technical databases with a major emphasis on measurement methodology and the basic technology underlying standardization. Here are links to some of the main NIST database topics: Analytical Chemistry ~ Atomic and Molecular Physics ~ Biometrics ~ Biotechnology ~ Chemical and Crystal Structure ~ Chemical Kinetics ~ Chemistry ~ Environmental Data ~ Fluids ~ Materials Properties ~ Mathematical Databases, Software and Tools ~ Physics ~ Surface Data ~ Thermophysical & Thermochemical Each of these database sets is also described elsewhere on this page. Some databases may not be free.

RAND Reports
RAND = Research AND Development, and is a nonprofit "think tank" that helps improve U.S. policy and decision-making. The site includes publications in the areas of environment, energy, international policy, national security, transportation, and science and technology, and more. Many RAND reports are indexed in DTIC and available as "AD" numbered reports or as cataloged items in the library.

Risk Assessment Information System
Sponsored by the Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management, this site has serveral tools and databases such as: Preliminary Remediation Goals; Established Regulatory Limits for Surface Water and Groundwater; Toxicity Values; Human Health Risk Exposure Modeling; and a Risk Assessment Glossary.
