Biodynamics Data Bank
A national repository of biodynamics test data, including data from 7,000 acceleration impact tests, info on test facilities, programs, and subjects. Data highlights measured forces, accelerations, and motions of both human and manikins. Up to six channels of data can be plotted simultaneously. Also includes mass properties data for humans and manikins. Produced by the Biodynamics and Acceleration Branch of AFRL/HE. *Must register to use.

Biomedical Research Database (DoD "BRD")
This database has been developed from biomedical research, testing or training programs being federally funded in FY1998 and beyond.* It covers research, testing and training on: infectious diseases, biological hazards, toxicology, medical chemical defense, medical biological defense, clinical medicine, clinical surgery, physical protection, training, graduate medical education and instruction. *It is supposed to be updated annually at the beginning of the fiscal year, so it is usually one or two years behind the current year. (A required "Animal Protocol" research file.) Also SEE Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects (CRISP)

Biometrics (NIST) databases
NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology) provides databases covering the statistical analysis of biological observations and phenomena. It supports research addressing the scientific comparison of solutions of digital video search, retrieval, and display.

EMBASE - Excerpta Medica

Flight Deck Automation Issues Database
Maintains a comprehensive list of flight deck automation human factors issues, and compiles data and other evidence related to those issues, such as accidents, incident studies, experiments, surveys and observational studies.

Human Systems Information Analysis Center (HSIIAC)
Provides Human Systems Integration (HSI) information and analysis services in support of research, design, development, test, and evaluation of human-operated systems. *This IAC is DoD sponsored but charges for some services. It is managed by the Air Force Research Laboratory's Human Effectiveness Directorate and operated under contract by the Northrop Grumman Corp.

International Society for Optical Engineering - SPIE
SPIE covers nearly everything associated with optics and photonics technologies. The site contains the full-text of the Proceedings of the SPIE and all four SPIE journals covering biomedical optics, electronic imaging, microlithography, microfabrication, and microsystems, and optical engineering. For AFRL/SN there are papers on sensors, MEMs or target recognition; for AFRL/HE, papers on humans or displays; and for ML, papers on materials or composites.

MEDLINE (Online version of Index Medicus)
THE medical resource produced by the National Library of Medicine. It's exhaustive database of over 12 million medical citations covers medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the pre-clinical sciences. (A required "Animal Protocol" research file.) Check with the Library for passwords to the $$ version. Also see PubMed (Free).

National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) databases
Provides access to over 80 NIST scientific and technical databases with a major emphasis on measurement methodology and the basic technology underlying standardization. The National Library of Medicine's exhaustive database of over 12 million medical citations back to the mid 1960's. I ncludes links to many sites providing full-text articles. Peer-reviewed citations are provided to PubMed from participating Publishers, hence "Pub"Med. Also see Medline.

Science Citation Index Expanded (part of the "Web of Science"). Provides access to current and retrospective cited references from the world's leading science and technical journals. AFRL coverage 1990 to present. Prepaid version available on AFIT computers in library - 1988 to present.

Science Direct
It is one of "the world's largest collection of science, technology and medicine full text and bibliographic information," and the library connects you to millions of scholarly articles available from 1995+. Includes all journals published by Elsevier, Academic Press, Pergamon, North-Holland and others.

Scitation
We have access to most of the journals published by the American Institute of Physics; American Physical Society; Acoustical Society of America; American Society of Mechanical Engineers; American Vacuum Society; International Centre for Diffraction Data; Laser Institute of America; and MAIK (the Russian Academy of Sciences). Many older issues are in the Library.

SCIRUS
Searches across 167 million science-specific Web pages including full-text journal sources like: BioMed Central, MEDLINE, Science Direct (Elsevier, Academic Press, etc.), Scitation (AIP, APS, ASME, SPIE, etc.), and the Society for Industrial & Applied Mathematics, as well as NASA reports, and various e-print and patent databases. Connects to millions of full-text subscription and free files.

A bibliographic database covering toxicology. Covers the biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals. It contains more than 3 million citations and includes CAS Registry Numbers.
