Sensors Resources

Aerospace & Radar Technology
Knovel interactive Reference books including:   Introduction to Airborne Radar, Low-Angle Radar Land Clutter-Measurements and Empirical Models, Radar Design Principles-Signal Processing and the Environment, and the Radar Handbook

Compendex (Engineering Index)
THE most comprehensive engineering resource. Covers aerospace engineering; electronics and communications engineering; engineering management; mechanical engineering; nuclear technology; computers and data processing; and applied physics.

INSPEC
THE leading index on physics, electrical engineering, electronics, communications, control engineering, computing and information technology, as well as manufacturing and production engineering. Check with the Library for passwords to the $$ version.

Institute of Physics (IOP)
IOP is a leading international society established to promote the advancement and dissemination of physics. It publishes important journals such as: Journal of Physics (A-G); Combustion Theory and Modelling; Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering; Journal of Optics (A&B); Nanotechnology; Semiconductor Science and Technology; and Smart Materials and Structures. We have full-text links to all IOP journals*, including coverage back to 1874!

International Society for Optical Engineering - SPIE
SPIE covers nearly everything associated with optics and photonics technologies. The site contains the full-text of the Proceedings of the SPIE and all four SPIE journals covering biomedical optics, electronic imaging, microlithography, microfabrication, and microsystems, and optical engineering. For AFRL/SN there are papers on sensors, MEMs or target recognition; for AFRL/HE, papers on humans or displays; and for ML, papers on materials or composites.

Joint Spectrum Center Document Library
JSC handles DoD issues relating to spectrum planning, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)/ vulnerability (EMV) and electromagnetic environmental effects (E3). Radio frequency (RF) spectrum is used in nearly every modern piece of military equipment.

OpticsInfoBase - Optical Society of America
OSA promotes the generation, application and archiving of knowledge in optics and photonics worldwide. We have full-text access to OSA journals, 1995 to date, and the rest in paper.

Optics.org
A web site for optics, photonics and imaging professionals, providing the latest industry information (nanowires, etc). Includes current news, new products, and a free search engine that searches the Institute of Physics' journals. IOP sponsors the site.

Photonics.com
Covers the photonics industry (optics, lasers, imaging, fiber optics, electro-optics and optoelectronics), with over 50,000 pages of content. Produced by Laurin Publishing, who also publishes the well-known Photonics Spectra magazine.

Progress In Electromagnetics Research (PIER)
NOT a database, but a special publication with comprehensive articles on all aspects of theory and applications of electromagnetics such as the compatibility, susceptibility and environmental effects.

Science Citation Index
Science Citation Index Expanded (part of the "Web of Science"). Provides access to current and retrospective cited references from the world's leading science and technical journals. AFRL coverage 1990 to present. Prepaid version available on AFIT computers in library - 1988 to present.

Science Direct
It is one of "the world's largest collection of science, technology and medicine full text and bibliographic information," and the library connects you to millions of scholarly articles available from 1995+. Includes all journals published by Elsevier, Academic Press, Pergamon, North-Holland and others.

Scitation
We have access to most of the journals published by the American Institute of Physics; American Physical Society; Acoustical Society of America; American Society of Mechanical Engineers; American Vacuum Society; International Centre for Diffraction Data; Laser Institute of America; and MAIK (the Russian Academy of Sciences). Many older issues are in the Library.

SCIRUS
Searches across 167 million science-specific Web pages including full-text journal sources like: BioMed Central, MEDLINE, Science Direct (Elsevier, Academic Press, etc.), Scitation (AIP, APS, ASME, SPIE, etc.), and the Society for Industrial & Applied Mathematics, as well as NASA reports, and various e-print and patent databases. Connects to millions of full-text subscription and free files.

SENSIAC (Sensor Information Analysis Center)
This DoD Information Analysis Center supports DoD's sensor communities. It is run by the Georgia Institute of Technology and co-sponsored by DTIC and the U. S. Army R&D & Engineering Command's Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD). *IACs are DoD sponsored but charge for some services.

SPIE Digital Library (International Society for Optical Engineering)
SPIE covers nearly everything associated with optics and photonics technologies. The site contains the full-text of the Proceedings of the SPIE and all four SPIE journals covering biomedical optics, electronic imaging, microlithography, microfabrication, and microsystems, and optical engineering.
