About Human Subject Research
OUR SCOPE
The 711th Human Performance Wing centers its research and technology development around Airman and Guardians. Our labs investigate the physical, physiological and cognitive performance responses to a variety of mission related factors and environmental exposures. This includes altitude/hypobaric conditions, G-forces/acceleration forces, extreme environments/thermal burden, and stress/injury. We conduct this work across our four unique Core Research Areas (CRA):
Biotechnology for Health & Performance
Health & Performance Sensing & Assessment
Biomedical Impact of Air & Space
Cognitive & Physiological Performance
Human Subject Protections
The 711th Human Performance Wing is committed to the ethical principles of human research protections outlined inĀ
Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects, The Common Rule
. The division conducts its work in full compliance with federal regulations, Department of Defense instructions, Department of the Air Force directives, AFRL guidance and state laws. Research subjects are volunteers and not contractually obligated to any research study. Since AFRL is engaged in human subject research, the lab bears the responsibility of fully protecting its research participants.
