STEVEN B. MAHURIN

Steven Mahurin is the Deputy Center Information Officer, serving as the Acting Center Information Officer, at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. In this role, he oversees Information Technology across the Air Force Research Laboratory, ensuring the alignment of capabilities, supportability, and modernization strategies across the organization to enable and accelerate Science & Technology for the Department of Air Force. As the Authorizing Official for Science and Technology information systems, Mahurin ensures a balanced approach to managing cyber and mission risks in a fast-paced digital environment.

Steven Mahurin began his career with the Department of the Air Force in November 2012, with the Material and Manufacturing Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory. He served in a broad range of roles leading teams in cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, and operations. His service included Chief of Cyber Systems and Information Management Branch, and program manager for the site-wide network for science and technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.  Prior to his current position, Mahurin was the Chief of Architecture and Experimentation, Digital Capabilities Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory.

In addition to his government service, Mahurin has extensive experience from the Defense Industrial Base and private sector, where he led systems engineering and integration for enterprise systems, oversaw software development for business and embedded real-time systems, and conducted risk management technical assessments.
