Air Camp students visit Sensors Directorate clean room
Air Camp students gown up to take a tour of the class 100 clean room at the Air Force Research Laboratory, or AFRL, Sensors Directorate facility at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The students learned about science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, careers within AFRL during their tour. Air Camp is a non-profit organization created to inspire students to pursue STEM education and career opportunities focused on aviation, aeronautics and increasing students' confidence to pursue a STEM career field. AFRL branch chief honored with Dayton Business Journal Forty Under 40 Award
Benjamin J. Tran, left, branch chief, sensing management in the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Sensors Directorate; and Sean C. Young, right, senior electronics engineer, AFRL/Sensor Exploitation Applications Branch inspect a harness holding an electro-optic and infrared dual camera gimbal that was flown by a small unmanned aerial systems at the Center for Rapid Innovation TecEdge works facility in Dayton, Ohio. The SUAS was part of the SILVER FANG program where AFRL deployed the device for operational utility evaluation in Afghanistan and Iraq. Having been selected as a member of the Dayton Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 class for 2022, Tran will be presented with the DBJ award during a July 14, 2022, banquet at Carillon Historical Park.
