The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Gaming Research Integration for Learning Laboratory® (GRILL®), annually hosts the Full Throttle STEM® event. The goal of this event is to spark student interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM®) and increase interest in related career fields. Local area participating teachers and students utilize a series of project-based STEM® learning materials that were developed at the GRILL. Throughout their academic semester, students focus on applying skills such as physics (in racing), graphics design, and marketing to design, develop and race their own RC car. This event allows students the opportunity to showcase their STEM® related projects, including their modeling and simulation-based work, and participate in learning opportunities that culminate in a live RC race car competition.
